Charles "Buddy" Law

Charles D. Law, Jr. was born on May 5, 1930, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. He was the son of The late Eleanor V. Staley and Charles D. Law, Sr. "Buddy" as he was called by family and friends alike, was educated in the Mckeesport School District where he was a 1948 graduate of McKeesport Senior High School. In his youth he and his siblings attended the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Shortly after graduation, Buddy enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served during the Korean Conflict spending a significant portion of his 8 year tour in Hawaii. While still in the military Buddy married his longtime sweetheart, Dorothy "Dot" Williams. This loving and committed union would last 62 years and they would raise 5 children: Siri, Leonard, Scott, Bridget, and Leslie. Upon completion of his tour of duty he returned home to McKeesport where he and Dot would raise their family and become lifelong residents. He worked at a number of jobs before securing a position at The United States Steel Corporation Irvin works Plant in West Mifflin. Buddy was one of the first minorities hired at that plant and he retired with over 30 years of continuous and dedicated service. Buddy loved sports and always made it a point to attend his children and grand childrens 'games or any activity that they were involved in. He was a baseball coach for the McKeesport Little League and an avid Pittsburgh Pirate and Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Also, in retirement he enjoyed working in his tool room, playing cards, watching old movies, especially westerns, and he loved miniature trains, the Buddy-L in particular. He was a member of the American Legion Post 666 and a founding member of The Esquire Club. Buddy always enjoyed the company of others and he had a wicked sense of humor. On Thursday, March 20, 2014, Charles David Law, Jr. departed this life. He is preceded in death by sisters: Anna(Pete)Mead, Eleanor Jenkins, Lena Law, and Mary Gordon; brother, James(Jimmy)Law; and niece, Crystal Law. He leaves to honor and cherish his memory his beloved and devoted wife, Dorothy Law; children: Siri Law, Leonard(Clariza)Law, Scott(Terra)Law, and Leslie(Joseph Ball) Law; brother, William Kenneth(Paulie)Law; 11 grandchildren: Eden Barber, Joseph Ball, Jr., Kristopher Law, Brianna Law, Desmond Ball, Brittny Ball, Ja'Meal(Noneck)Ball, Rizuelle(Zhey)Cabral, Keshon(Kee'Wee)Ball, Jiggz(Doy)Cabral, and Jordan Rodriguez; 4 great grandchildren: Jeriyah Barber, Kameisha Law, Brooke Law, and Joseph Ball, III; sister-in-law, Annette Wiliams; former daughter-in-law, Korliss Barber; and other family and good friends too numerous to mention.
