Darlene Lee Burns was born on January 28, 1957 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Eloise and Edward Burns. Darlene was a graduate of West Mifflin Area High School and continued her education graduating from Community College of Allegheny County and Duffs Business Institute. Darlene's passion in life was working with children and to that end her employment with Family Links afforded her that opportunity and she remained in the field of child welfare retiring from the Children's Institute. She was a longtime and faithful member of Zion Baptist Church and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Eastern Stars. Darlene always had a positive attitude and enjoyed life to the fullest. Her smile was like no other and her sense of humor could not be matched. She was the rock in the lives of her family and had an influentual effect on all who knew her. Her family meant the world to her and she loved the time she spent with them. She was everybody's "Mom"! She loved to sing, dance, and cook, but never turned down the opportunity to eat out. Darlene's favorite phrase was "5 more minutes". According to her, this line applied to everyone who's life she touched. She believed 5 more minutes would allow a person time to reflect and possibly reconsider they were about to make. She always said that she was going ti get her "Five More Minutes" trademarked and write a book about it. On Wednesday, September 20, 2017 Darlene Lee Burns departed this life in Jefferson Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Eunice Kirby, Annette Walker, Gail Burns, Lisa Jenkins, and brother, Darrel Dinkins. Left to remember her life and cherish her memory are devoted sons: Calvin "Ricky" (Deseree)Walker and Edward Burns; granddaughters: Trinity Jackson and Annniah Whit; grandson, Zion Jackson; sisters: Idell (Willie) Jones, Joann Kelso, and Nadine Burns; nieces: Lesley Kirby, Shannon Heaps, Dana (Carlos) Dukes, Anitra and Jaquala Jenkins; nephews: Qualaun (Mylisha) Burns, Darren Burns, David Covington, Joey and Kevin Kelso, DJ Heaps, and a host of other relatives and friends to numerous to mention. She is already missed.
