Harold Hodgston Hall, Jr. was born on February 29, 1952, in Pittsburgh, PA to Harold H. Hall, Sr. and Beatrice P. Hall. Their firstborn, only son and leap year baby, he was surely unique from the beginning. His cute round face reminded his mother of a little “cookie”, a nickname that would stick with him for the rest of his life. Through his adolescence Cookie was always full of life and a natural protector to his younger sisters, Maria and Gina. You could find him playing football, basketball, piano, guitar or, of course, roller skating. He and his sisters were avid skaters, and since he was a skate guard, most of the time they skated for free. In high school he was a popular kid and was a member of the drama club. Well-known by upper and lower classmates, a friend to all, everybody knew and liked Cookie! He graduated from West Mifflin North High in 1970 and studied computer technology in college before working under his father at U.S. Steel. Throughout his tenure he would hold multiple titles including plant security, forklift driver, crane operator and steel cutter. He was an excellent welder and car mechanic, and often the neighborhood’s go-to guy for car problems, plumbing issues, and just about anything at all. He worked for 40 years in multiple states before retiring in his hometown of Pittsburgh. After retirement, Cookie held various jobs in landscaping, hotels, and restaurants. He was a skilled gardener and continued to be the family mechanic and go-to guy for family members and friends all over town. He loved fast dancing, singing and telling elaborate stories. He wrote many short songs, played on his keyboard and piano and would play on his guitar and sing Happy Birthday to his family and friend of their special day. He attended Hillcrest S.D.A and enjoyed early morning Sabbath school and after church fellowship with his fiancée Toni. He certainly loved the Lord and will be remembered by so many for singing his favorite church son “Precious Lord”. He is survived by his mother Beatrice Hall, fiancee Toni Charity-Lewis, sisters Maria Morton and Gina Boyd, son Harold Hall, III, two granddaughters Loriana and Aria Hall, and a host of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, daughter-in-law, relatives and lifelong friends.
