Vera E. Daniels-Washington went home with the Lord, her God, on Friday, January 1, 2016 and God told her that her battle was not hers, but the Lord's, and that is was won, job well done. One week prior to being called by the Lord she expressed her wish to have a New Year's Eve and New Year's Day celebration with her family. God granted her wish as her devoted children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, niece Tracy and friends were at her bedside to bring in the New Year with her. When God called on her on New Year's Day, she crossed over into the House of the Lord and was able to celebrate New Year's Day with her husband Lawrence Washington, her son Nasser Washington; her sister, Shirley Robinson; her mother, her father, her brothers James and Charles (Aero) Daniels; her other sisters Pearl Murphy and Betsy Ann Kimbo and a host of other relatives who preceded her in being called on by the Lord. What a celebration she had! Vera was born on March 1, 1946 to the late James "Elmo" Daniels and Betty Spencer-Daniels on Camp Avenue in Duquesne, PA. She graduated from Duquesne High School in 1959. She married the late Lawrence C. Washington in 1964. She worked as a Clinical Secretary for McKeesport Hospital, Braddock Hospital, and later retired from Mercy Hospital in 2005. She also furthered her education in business, English and cosmetology. The love and dedication Vera had for her family was exceptional. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend. Vera loved jazz music, classic movies, traveling, dancing, laughing, and mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a compassionate and caring advocate for all who were in need of help. Family was always first, and she was an extremely dedicated wife and mother who prepared a home-cooked meal every day and provided great guidance and wisdom in raising her family and to the friends who sought her advice. All who were close to her will miss her great love, wisdom, trust, and devotion. Leaving to cherish her love, celebrate her Home Going, and cherish fond memories are her loving children Carla Hall (Delton), Hussein Washington (Theresa), Lawrence A. Washington (Jessica), Shaheed Washington; twelve beautiful grandchildren, Fitzgerald Bobo II, Rashad Washington, Rochon Washington, Lawrence Washington, Jr., Sharahj Washington, Heaven Lei-Angel Bobo, Nasser Washington, Jr., Antonio Washington, Aliyah Washington, Jayla Washington, Julius Washington, and Jordan Washington; two wonderful great grandchildren, Camdyn Bobo and Terrelle Pryor II; mother-in-law, Ammie Lee Wilson; father-in-law, Charles Wilson; sisters Thelma Murphy, Joann Braxton and Mary Gordon; brothers, Algie Daniels and Mike Daniels; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
