Virginia Davis

Virginia Davis was born on November 30, 1927, to the late Milton Lacey and Rachel Lynn Lacey. She departed this life on November 10, 2023. She was an only child. She grew up in Homestead, PA and graduated from Homestead High School in 1946. She met and married Clyde Thomas Davis from which union four children were born, one daughter and three sons. Virginia worked for the United States Post Office for about 30 years. She worked her way up, becoming one of the supervisors on her job. She had an excellent work ethic and did her job with integrity. Virginia was a kind and caring person who had the ability to maintain friendships over long periods of time. Up until a few years ago she had friends that she had met 60 years ago. She was affectionately known as “Mom Davis” to many because she was a mother to so many. Virginia loved her family. She prayed daily for each of her children and went down the line praying for all the other family members. She never forgot any family member’s birthday and delighted in being with her family. She was an inspiration to many. Her daughter would often share about how she was a good example for her to follow. Virginia loved the Lord. Being a very disciplined person, she read her Scriptures every day. She spent one hour a day being diligent in this endeavor. Her prayer life, as has been noted, was one of consistency. For after all, she had her generations of loved ones to present daily before the Lord. She loved her church, Clark Memorial Baptist Church, her pastor, Pastor Burwell and first lady, Jou-al and all of the members of the congregation. She tried to be supportive to all in any way she could. She was faithful in all she did for the Lord. In fact, she did everything as unto the Lord. She was a member of Clark Memorial for more than 40 years and served on many of the Church’s auxiliaries including: Missionary Society, Deaconess Board, Nurses, Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher, Financial and Corresponding Secretary, Evangelism Commission, Hospitality Committee and Special Helps. She was also greatly loved by the congregation of Shekinah Tabernacle, the church that is pastored by her beloved daughter, Marilynn J. Davis. She is survived by two children Marilynn J. Davis and Clyde Thomas (Carrie) Davis, seven grandsons: Micheal Davis, Jodie (Tamala) Huffman, Terry (Peggy) Davis, Kevin Green, Cyrus (Tanya) Yusef, Khalique (Vickie) Davis, Na’im (Carla) Davis, 25 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Virginia is preceded in death by her sons Stanley Davis and Lynn (Nancy) Davis and great grandson Brashaun Green. Virginia will be greatly missed by all. Done by order of the family.
