Yvonne R. Young

Yvonne Rosalind Young was born April 27, 1957 in Homestead, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Irene Johnson and Russell Young. Von grew up in the then closeknit community of Homestead where she attended Second Baptist Baptist Church and was educated in the Homestead Public School System. She was a 1975 graduate of Steel Valley Senior High School. Von continued her education at and graduated from Duff's Business Institute in 1979. She was employed for a time at Blue Cross but eventually went to work closer to home at Ruby's where she was well known and liked by all. In 1989 She was united in marriage to Ricardo (Ricky) McDonald. There were no children from this union. Von lived her entire life in Whitaker and attended the close by Morning Star Baptist Church. She was an active participant in church life serving under the pastorate of Rev. Claude Alexander, Rev. Jerome Stevenson, and the current pastor of Morning Star Baptist Church, the Reverend Cathryn Brundage. Until her health no longer permitted her to do so, she was a member of the Nursing Ministry, Candlelight Ministry, Usher Board, and The Pastor's Aide. She also was a proud graduate of the Clark Memorial Baptist Church Bible School. In her spare time Von, always mindful of her appearance, loved to shop. She was avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, enjoyed bingo, and watching her grandson play for the Pitt Men's Basketball Team. On January 4, 2016, the Lord lifted her worldly burdens, ceased all her pain and suffering, and called Yvonne Rosalind Young home. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Young, and sister, Charlotte Williams. She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Michelle Young; sister, Charlene Hester; 10 grandchildren: Michael, Mecca, Miccarah, Javon, Jamon, Sheymour, Dasani, Milo, Malayah and Keilyn Young; 1 grerat grandchild, Isabella Young; 4 nieces: Annette Meeks, Antionette Bostick, Yvonne Murphy and Tamara (Gary) Richardson; 1 nephew, Robert Hester, III; 8 great nieces and nephews; good friends: Minister Sandra Hampton, Theresa Anderson, Leslie Mickens-Hairston, & other family and friends too numerous to mention.
