Catherine Cornelius Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Catherine Cornelius was born on November 22nd, 1943 in Glen Hazel, PA. She departed this life on February 1, 2021, at a Rehabilitation Center in Jefferson Hills, PA. Catherine was one of eight children in a close knit family from the late Burlee and Estee Patterson Cornelious. She spent her early years in Glen Hazel, attending Pittsburgh Public School, before moving to Homestead, where she graduated from Homestead High School. Catherine was a dedicated and hard working woman. She was employed at the Jewish Home for the Aging in Squirrel Hill, Eat N Park of Homestead, Locust Grove of West Mifflin, and Home Healthcare, part-time to support her family. After years of loyal service, Catherine retired; however, she remained energetic and active. She was a staple at the Bingo Hall and a dancing sensation when good music came on. Her vibrant energy with her hearty laugh that would fill any room. She truly enjoyed being around her family and dear friends. Her passing leaves a lifetime of beautiful memories amongst anyone who knew her. She is preceded in death by her siblings: Rosalie Cornelious Williams(sister), Rosetta “Polly” Taylor(sister), Christine Cornelious Buckner(sister), Ella Cornelious(sister), Nathaniel Cornelious(brother), Melvin Cornelious(brother), Donna D. Burroughs(daughter), and Karl Van Scott Jr(grandson). She leaves to honor and cherish her lovingly memories; Darrell L. Burroughs(son) (Sonja-daughter-in-law), Charles F. Cooper Jr.(son) (Renee-daughter-in-law), LeRoy D. Cooper(son), Loretta Hill(daughter) (Channie-son-in-law), Bertha (Bill) Lassiter(sister), Judith Glaze(sister), Marva Foster(sister), 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and a host of beloved family members and friends.
