Mrs. Lula Mae Pressley of West Mifflin passed away into eternity on January 27, 2016 at the age of 91. Born November 19, 1925 in Kingstree, SC, she is preceded in death by her parents - Wilson and Janie Myers of Kingstree, SC; her husband of 64 years - Van Pressley Sr.; and, a daughter - Lula Pressley Hall. Lula Mae lived a loving full life as a homemaker and devoted church servant at Park Place AME Church in Homestead, where she achieved Lifetime Missionary status within the AME church for over 25 continuous years of meritorious service. She was a past president of Stewardess Board #5, sang in the Gospel Choir, was a Rainbow Kitchen volunteer and served as Asst. Superintendent and teacher in the Sunday School. She loved teaching her Primary Class (aka “the little people’s class.”) Mrs. Pressley was an active community volunteer throughout her life and served as an Electoral Judge in West Mifflin, a PTA Board Officer, a West Mifflin Schools Orchestra and Choir parent volunteer and a hospital volunteer. On February 27, 2010, Mrs. Pressley was presented a “Community Service Award” by Park Place AME Church during the Black History Month Celebration at Westwood Golf Club. She is survived by seven children: Jannie Jean, Nellie Naomi Eaves (the late Donald Sr.), Van Jr. (the late Donna Jean), Rachel Pressley Anderson (Joseph), Byrd (Patricia), Donna Lee, and Madelyn Pearline. She is also survived by four sisters: Daisy Bell Scott (the late Rev. Herman), Mattie Clark, Nellie Newell (Walter), and Jannie Conyers (Professor). She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Sanford Mark Barnes, Nichole Angela Pressley, Claya Janeice Pressley; Donald Lee Eaves Jr., Demetria Lynn Eaves-White (Ernest); Brian Keith Studvant; Charles Francis Wilkins Jr. (Vanessa), Vanessa Rachelle Balgobin (Brian); Kimberly Renee Seward (Herbert III). Additionally she has thirteen great-grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends that will miss her tremendously and keep her alive in their memories. Visitation will be held at Park Place AME Church in Homestead PA on February 5, 2016 at 4:00 – 8:00 pm. The Funeral service will also be held at Park Place AME Church on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. James Harris of Park Place officiating. Burial will follow at Homestead Cemetery. Tunie Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.
