Norma N Espinosa

Norma Espinosa , age 77, passed away peacefully, September 12 2023 due to diabetes and congestive heart failure. She was born May 10, 1946 in Barotec Viejo, Iloilo City, Philippines. The oldest child of Leonora Espinosa and Pedro Parone. Norma was, affectionately, known as Noynoy by her six siblings, Asucena Parone Baconaje, Nelly Parone Baxinila, Susan Parone, Vilma Parone Balasoto, Perlita Parone Omina, and Pedro Parone Jr. Norma attended St. Mary of Mercy Church downtown Pittsburgh. She always said her faith in God is what made her strong and to have faith in God to get you through tough times. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse Ephesians 4:32: Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God has forgiven you. Norma was known for her down to earth nature and kind heart. Always willing to help someone in any way she could without judgement. Norma met and married Blaine Morris, who was in the Army Stationed in the Philippines and came to the United States in 1971. Norma worked as a seamstress, bartender, and housekeeper for many years, but was known best as “Miss Norma the Jitney”. Norma, also called, Lula (Filipino word for Grandma) was the true definition of a hustler. Selling egg rolls and fried rice, altering clothing, crocheting hats for the Rastas, in between, her jitney trips. Not only did Norma raise three children independently, but she also sent money “home” often to help her family. Norma helped family during natural disasters, relatives to continue college in the Philippines and wanted to return home, so badly, to see her mom, who is still alive at 101 years old. However, her need for dialysis the last three years thwart her plans. Norma was known by her friends, who were more like nieces and sisters as Auntie Norma. She loved her friends dearly and often would have parties to get together and eat traditional Filipino food and sing karaoke, with her beautiful voice. Being a very outgoing and vibrant person, Norma loved to fish, karaoke, got to the casino and play bingo in her spare time with friends and family. Her spirit of happiness will truly be missed. She leaves to cherish her memory her children Greg Morris, wife Valerie Morris, Jerry Morris, wife Cheryl Rendaje , Elaine Morris, and Misty Mitchell; Mother Leonora (101 years old) and sister Susan; Grandchildren Thaddeus, Elon, Gerald, Devasia, Jenaiya, Jaden, Maleya, Amari and Jazia. Great grandchildren Eli, Malaya, Zyiah, Messiah, and Azariyah; and a host of nieces and nephews.
