Sarah Lue Bonner

Sarah Le Hawkins was born on July 21, 1920 in Norfolk, Virginia. She was the third of eight children from the union of the late Aubrey C. Hawkins and Ebbie Holiday Hawkins. She and her siblings were raised in a god fearing home where her mother and father lived by example and instilled their children with strong Christian values. At an early age she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior. in 1963 her parents moved from Monongh, West Virginia to Wilmerding, PA. In 1963 she graduated from Westinghouse Memorial High School and was hired as a domestic until 1943 where she eloped with the love of her life Eulas Fulton Bonner of East Liberty, PA. She then became a domestic engineer for the rest of her life in her own love nest with her husband, She was not blessed with children but reached out as a foster parent to two precious daughters. She also gave them love and received love from her many nieces and nephews. Sarah truly loved the Lord and was a follower of Kathryn Kuhlman until Evangelist Kuhlman was called to glory. She then joined Mount Ararat Baptist Church in East Liberty. In her latter years she supported and attended Saint John Baptist Church in her home roots, Wilmerding. Sarah set up her mission center in her home and reached out to relatives and friends with charitable gifts of wisdom, advice, teachings, finances and so much love. At the time of her sudden death she was reading a letter from her great nephew Christ Hardin of California, where he had written about the Lord and thanked her for her guidance, instructions and telephone bible studies which had helped him change to the believer he is today. Sarah was such an amazing woman. Her sister, Evelyn named her "Amazing Sarah" in reference to her favorite song, "Amazing Grace." She wore that title like a crown, Her mist notable act of kindness was being one of the caregivers for her shut-in younger sister, Ruby. Sarah was the family reporter at large. If she knew of your personal business or circumstance she was on the "Hot Line" to the rest of the family telling all of your business whether you wanted it broadcast or not. She was really instrumental in keeping the family connected and knowledgeable about the lives of the Hawkins Clan. On Thursday, October 22, 2015, Sarah Lue Bonner departed life in her earthly home, 200 Coal Street, where she said she would be when she transitioned to her heavenly home. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eulas F. Bonner; two brothers, Alphonzie and Aubrey C. Hawkins Jr.; two sisters: Drucella Smith and Mary Austin; three nieces: Marsha Young, Terry Tunie Reed and Carol Lanier; two nephews: Harry Lanier Jr. and Larry Jackson Sr. She leaves to honor and cherish her memory three sisters: Alice Lanier of Gardenia, CA, Ruby Jackson of North Versailles, PA and Evelyn Tunie of Pittsburgh, PA; sister-in-law, Loretta Hawkins of Dacula, GA; foster daughters: Carolyn Welder of Penn Hills and Dolores Livsey of Hazelwood, PA; goddaughter/niece Tamara Tunie of New York and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many many close friends
